WASTE = PROBLEMS? Towards a new circular economy paradigm

VI Innovation Conference business of the Vilanova del Camí City Council with the participation of SÍMBIOSY

  From Símbiosy we want to congratulate the Vilanova del Camp City Council, Leitat Technological Center and the Business Union of l’Anoia for the organization of this conference. The room full of companies learning and sharing experience and knowledge on waste and resource management said it all. The aim of the conference was to encourage debate and reflection around the need to implement new strategies and policies for a more sustainable waste management. At this conference, our CEO Verónica Kuchinow moderated the round table of Success Stories in the Business World, with innovative and leading companies such as LABIN, CELSA GROUP or FIZZYCAPS, learning about some of their circular economy and industrial symbiosis projects and strategies.

Conclusions?

  The efficient management of surplus resources requires:

1. A more systemic view open to collaboration
2. Being integrated into the company’s strategy

The strategy must understand that innovation in waste management is much more than doing a novel recycling project, it can involve changes in the business model, in the process and in the value chain, to achieve viable and impactful projects. The challenges of innovation in waste are a path with great potential to drive the company towards the new phase.
