A case of industrial symbiosis in energy in the Zona Franca of Barcelona.
Simbiosy, together with other members of the energy commission of the College of Agronomists of Catalonia, visited the biomass plant project and heat distribution network for thermal supply in the logistics park of the Zona Franca of Barcelona.
A heat and electricity generation plant using a steam boiler that, through the combustion of biomass from municipal garden pruning and forest felling, distributes heat to: the buildings of the Barrio de la Marina, Gran Via 2 Shopping Center, trade fair, and other productive processes of nearby industries. The project will soon be completed with two new plants. One for heat and another that will take advantage of the residual cold obtained in the natural gas decompression plant that, upon arrival at the port, must be introduced into the distribution network, a thermal process that will serve to supply cold to the nearby facilities of Mercabarna.
