Chihuahua Green City is the industrial symbiosis project of the city of Chihuahua, implemented by SÍMBIOSY in 2022

Our Mexican partner in the industrial symbiosis network, Víctor M. Gómez-Céspedes, visited Barcelona last January. Víctor is the leader of the industrial symbiosis project Chihuahua Green City, a project started with funding from the Delegation of the European Union in Mexico and which currently continues as a public-private initiative at the state level. It is an exemplary project at the national level (Mexico) focused on the sustainable economic development of the territory through the circular economy. Dialogues have begun with Catalan entrepreneurs and possible alliances for technological integration have been proposed, in order to attract new “green” business projects in Chihuahua:
  1. The management of plastic strapping waste for the manufacture of recycled strapping,
  2. The use of surplus energy through heat and cooling networks,
  3. The maximum valorization of WEEE
  4. The production of quality compost from MSW,
width= These are four opportunities identified in the Chihuahua Green City industrial symbiosis project that are being explored in collaboration with Catalan companies. Thanks to SORSA Strapping Solutions, ELECTRORECYCLING ERSA, Associació d’Empresaris de Bufalvent, Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, DFactory Barcelona, Ecoenergies Barcelona Sud, Zona Franca i Gran vía l’Hospitalet, S.A., Clúster de Residus de Catalunya, AEBALL / UPMBALL Consorci del Bages per a la gestió de residus for sharing knowledge and enthusiasm in the creation of synergies with a positive impact. width= The municipal project of Chihuahua Green City is developing towards the State of Chihuahua, which coordinates the different territorial initiatives that are appearing (Ciudad Juarez Circular, Poniente 2050, etc.). The HUB of circular economy and industrial symbiosis projects in Catalonia stands as an open door for collaboration between Mexican and Spanish companies and from here towards the rest of Europe.
