Viladecans Energy Efficiency – Diagnosis and Shared Industrial Self-Consumption
Diagnosis of the potential for energy savings in companies in the industrial parks of Viladecans, aimed at improving the competitiveness of the industrial fabric through energy efficiency measures and the promotion of shared renewable self-consumption systems.
Location
Viladecans (Barcelona province)
Year of Start
2024
Promoter
Viladecans City Council
Participants
Industrial SMEs from the industrial parks of Viladecans
Objective
Project aimed at increasing the competitiveness of industrial SMEs in the territory by identifying energy saving measures, energy efficiency and renewable energy production.
Energy audits have been carried out on industrial companies to analyze their consumption, estimate potential savings and evaluate their possible participation in shared self-consumption systems.
Results obtained
Improvements in energy efficiency
- Reuse of residual heat from refrigeration equipment for air conditioning and domestic hot water.
- Improvement of insulation in work areas.
- Optimization of maintenance and renovation of compressors.
- Replacement of refrigeration equipment with piston compressors.
Opportunities in shared self-consumption
- Between a shopping center and the adjoining neighborhood community.
- Between companies located around a shared parking lot.
To highlight
- Start of a methodology to quantify the decarbonization potential of the industrial fabric based on energy efficiency measures.
- The City Council has a defined roadmap to implement the identified shared self-consumption projects.
- Scalability of the model: a larger volume of audits would allow a more precise calculation of the energy and climate impact on a territorial scale.
