Supplier Map for Biogas Production of the Besós Tordera Consortium

The Besós Tordera Consortium contracted SIMBIOSY’s Waste Mapping service to identify organic waste producers for its biogas plants. The mapping with SYNER detected 50 large producers, validated through interviews according to quantity and distance.

Objective

The Besós Tordera Consortium manages wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) in different municipalities of the province of Barcelona and seeks new opportunities to increase biogas production from organic waste.
For this purpose, a resource mapping project is being promoted to locate authorized producers who can supply organic waste regularly and in adequate quantities.

Through the SYNER platform and fieldwork based on interviews, the main generators of organic waste in the region are analyzed, assessing their provision capacity, the quality of the waste and its compatibility with the Consortium’s needs.
The project allows building a clear and updated vision of the real availability of organic resources, reducing uncertainty and facilitating the planning of biogas production.

Results obtained

  • Identification of 50 large producers of organic waste potentially suitable for supply to biogas plants.
  • Structured mapping through the SYNER platform, allowing the visualization, classification and prioritization of suppliers.
  • Confirmation interviews with key producers to validate the availability, frequency of generation and characteristics of the waste.
  • Generation of an operational database for the Consortium, ready to be integrated into decision-making and energy planning processes.

To highlight

  • Use of the SYNER platform for agile, dynamic and decision-oriented mapping.
  • Approach focused on supply guarantee, combining digital analysis and personalized interviews.
  • Direct contribution to the promotion of renewable energy production through biogas in the province of Barcelona.
  • Solid base for future territorial synergies between waste generators and the Consortium’s infrastructure.
