Project description
The PROCIR project aims to boost markets for recycled plastic raw materials, identifying products that can be manufactured from recovered materials and promoting their incorporation into industrial production processes.
This is an industrial symbiosis project led by a business association, which seeks to foster synergies between companies associated with AEBALL, while promoting the use of secondary raw materials to replace virgin materials.
AEBALL is a business network that brings together nearly 4,000 associated companies and an extended network of more than 8,500 companies and entities in Baix Llobregat. The PROCIR project is initiated thanks to the financial support of the circular economy projects of the Waste Agency of Catalonia, with a clear focus on creating real and viable markets for industrial plastic waste.
Results
The main markets identified for the valorization of industrial plastic waste are:
- Cable coverings
- Fences
- Boards and shelves
- Information boards
- Picnic benches
- Information signs
- Children’s play areas
- Planters
- Waste containers
- Traffic bollards
- Walkways
These results make it possible to close material cycles within the industrial fabric itself, reinforcing the economic viability of recycling and the use of recovered plastics.
