Objective
Granollers enters into symbiosis is a municipal industrial symbiosis project promoted by the Granollers City Council through its economic development area, with the aim of supporting local companies in the transition towards the circular economy through collaboration and the efficient use of resources.
The project is implemented with dedicated technical personnel, reinforced by the participation of external experts, and offers a wide range of services to companies in the municipality’s various industrial parks. These services include technical audits of resource efficiency, identification and implementation of synergies between different actors, collective management events for surplus resources, and the use of a digital material exchange platform.
One of the key elements of the project is Grid Granollers, a material exchange platform that facilitates the valorization of industrial by-products and fosters new opportunities for collaboration between companies in the territory.
Thanks to its structured, continuous, and results-oriented approach, Granollers enters into Symbiosis has become a benchmark in the promotion of the circular economy at the local level and has served as a model for other municipalities.
The project was recognized as the National Winner of the European Enterprise Promotion Award 2020, in the category of support for the development of green markets and resource efficiency.
