Objective
The Eix Besòs Circular is an industrial symbiosis project promoted in the industrial parks located along the final stretch of the Besòs River, in the north of the city of Barcelona. The project was created with the aim of supporting companies in their transition towards the circular economy, promoting a more efficient use of resources and promoting cooperation between neighboring companies.
The initiative offers a permanent business support service, combining technical advice, personalized support and the detection of industrial symbiosis opportunities. Through the project, surplus resources, shared needs and possible synergies between companies are identified, in order to reduce costs, improve sustainability and generate shared value in the territory.
The project is developed in close collaboration with key actors in the local ecosystem, such as the UPC’s Recircula HUB, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area and other initiatives linked to the reuse and valorization of resources, reinforcing the impact of the actions deployed.
Results obtained
- Implementation of joint collection systems for organic waste and packaging among companies in the territory.
- Development of aggregated energy purchasing processes, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
- Implementation of a permanent assistance and support service for companies in the field of circular economy.
- Recycling and reuse of waste from different industrial sectors.
- Activation of synergies between companies that allow optimizing resource management and reducing trivial waste.
