On February 1st, a new session was held to identify gains from industrial symbiosis based on opportunities for improvement in plastic waste management.
The session, which was attended by industrialists, managers, and technology and research centers, allowed for the sharing of alternatives and examples of use and application that can generate economic value from residual plastic.
The conclusions that could be drawn from the session were that recycling must be considered during the design phase, that a more global vision is needed to find alternative applications for plastic waste, and that a cultural change is needed since in countries like Germany or Denmark, plastic products are not found on the street.
