A project still under development is the Mapping of potential energy communities in industrial parks of Alt Penedès and support for the first stages of implementation. This project began this summer in the Alt Penedès region with the support of the Vilafranca City Council, the Federation of Companies of Penedès-Garraf, and the Alt Penedès Regional Council.
The initiative seeks to analyze the estimated electricity consumption of all companies in the region’s industrial parks, as well as evaluate the potential for renewable energy generation through solar panels on the roofs of these companies using the Syner platform. This tool allows us to visualize on a map the areas with the greatest potential to promote energy communities, identifying the companies that could participate and highlighting those that are essential to create the core of this community.
Additionally, the project includes the facilitation and training of companies through participatory workshops to provide knowledge. The objective is to empower interested entrepreneurs to adopt the new model of renewable and distributed energy, generating energy for shared self-consumption within the company in collaboration with neighboring companies, thus contributing to the energy community.
The information collected with the Syner platform also allows visualizing opportunities for collaborative projects in resource use efficiency, such as joint systems for selective waste collection or the expansion of material recovery projects. The proposals identified through the analysis of business data with Syner will be used to initiate new projects that strengthen the network of agents in the industrial parks, facilitating the collaboration necessary to improve the management of the industrial parks and the productive fabric of Catalonia.
