On March 9th, the Símbiosy team and the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona jointly coordinated the first working session with businesses from the Zona Franca industrial estate to establish initial contact with the circular economy and industrial symbiosis.
Around thirty companies participated in the session, the objective of which was to create a creative space to share the needs of the participating companies and identify new business opportunities through alternative approaches to the treatment of their surplus resources.
During the session, ideas were brought to the surface and analyzed jointly, with the aim of promoting exchange between companies and creating potential groups of companies interested in exploring possible synergies.
The meeting was attended by large companies from the automotive, chemical, and logistics sectors, as well as small and medium-sized companies located in the main productive area of the Barcelona metropolitan area. This first session marked the start of a collaboration between the companies of the industrial estate, which will be followed up in the upcoming activities of the Zona Franca Circular Economy project.
